Our mission: To be a catalyst for positive change and create a sustainable Salisbury through networking, education & inspiration.

What is Transition?

Transition is a movement of communities coming together to re-imagine and re-build our world.  The movement has been growing since 2005 and is about people stepping up to address the big challenges we face globally by starting local.  By working together from the community up, we are able to crowd source solutions and nurture a caring culture, one focused on supporting each other. Transition is all about moving away from a system that values profit over people and strives to empower communities to shape their lives from providing their own sustainable power, housing and community services to growing food, re-wilding public spaces and sharing resources to prosper together.

In practice, the transition movement aims to reclaim local economies, spark social and environmental enterprise through fundraising and investment and re-imagine work to build a prosperous, planet friendly Salisbury. The Transition movement has spread to over 50 countries, in thousands of groups, towns, villages, cities, universities and schools.

Transition has gone global by inspiring the heads, hearts and hands of communities to shape their own future, we hope you are inspired to help Salisbury create its own transition story.

Salisbury Transition City provides you with the chance to get involved and make a real difference through local networking and forming of project groups designed to help the community understand, adjust and implement the changes desperately required to achieve a sustainable city which will not only survive, but thrive for generations to come.

Transition takes many hands, heads and hearts. We all need to bring our friends and communities along on the journey to a brighter future. If you would like to be kept up to date with STC projects and groups you can subscribe to our mailing list or contact us directly to tell us about your projects and share any ideas or feedback you might have.
